Who can know the will of GOD

This is a challenging question. How can we know the mind of God? I believe that we must explore the character of our Father. One of the best and earliest examples of this is when Moses asks to see HIS face. No man sees the face of God and live, so He hides Moses in the cleft of a rock as he passes and reveals his backside.

xo 34:6 And Jehovah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth,

Exo 34:7 keeping lovingkindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

This was only the back of God. What does the face reveal? It must contain the BEST part of his character. Just the back side shows us his Mercy, Grace, Patience, Love, Kindness, Truth, Forgiveness, And Justice. Just for a minute let us consider what has been revealed.

חנן

MERCY

chânan

khaw-nan'

A primitive root (compare H2583); properly to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor, bestow; causatively to implore (that is, move to favor by petition): - beseech, X fair, (be, find, shew) favour (-able), be (deal, give, grant (gracious (-ly), intreat, (be) merciful, have (shew) mercy (on, upon), have pity upon, pray, make supplication, X very.

חן

μακροθυμέω

From the same as G3116; to be long spirited, that is, (objectively) forbearing or (subjectively) patient: - bear (suffer) long, be longsuffering, have (long) patience, be patient, patiently endure.

אהב

LOVE

חן

KINDNESS

chên

khane

אמוּן

THRUTH

'êmûn

ay-moon'

From H539; established, that is, (figuratively) trusty; also (abstractly) trustworthiness: - faith (-ful), TRUTH.

סליחה

elîychâh

FORGIVENESS

sel-ee-khaw'

From H5545; pardon: - FORGIVENESS, pardon.

משׁפּט

JUSTICE

mishpâṭ

mish-pawt'

From H8199; properly a verdict (favorable or unfavorable) pronounced judicially, especially a sentence or formal decree (human or (particularly) divine law, individual or collectively), including the act, the place, the suit, the crime, and the penalty; abstractly justice, including a particular right, or privilege (statutory or customary), or even a style: - + adversary, ceremony, charge, X crime, custom, desert, determination, discretion, disposing, due, fashion, form, to be judged, judgment, just (-ice, -ly), (manner of) law (-ful), manner, measure, (due) order, ordinance, right, sentence, usest, X worthy, + wrong.

Now if these characters are what God can reveal to living man, what must He have for us upon our arrival? Hard to fathom isn't it? Something to definitely look forward to and as we are daily conformed into the image of Christ we will be more and more eager to receive these great and glorious gifts from our Heavenly Father.

So now to the will of God. I think that our best prayer might be that we ask to have our will conformed to his. This way, what we believe to be our own will IS actually HIS will. To live guided by the Spirit of God in our lives, to receive His wisdom, and to grow in our relationship with our ABBA Father.
